Clease with Eli Roth |
Today we have an interview with Mikayla Clease. Clease is a HUGE horror movie geek from British Columbia,Canada and claims to be Eli Roth’s number one fan. She makes a pretty good case for herself.
Clease was the first person to enter Roth’s haunted house attraction, The Goretorium. The Goretorium opened on September 27, 2012 in Las Vegas. Clease flew in from BC on the day of the event and waited hours in line to be the first one in. I decided to ask her some questions about this. Enjoy!
Victim #1 |
Christopher Coffel: You were the first victim of Eli Roth's Goretorium, correct? What is it like knowing you will always hold that place in Goretorium history?
Mikayla Clease: Yes, I was! It is an amazing feeling and I definitely love the fact that I get to wear that title for the rest of my life! I honestly feel famous because of it! All the of the Goretorium workers know me and have added me on Facebook and followed me on twitter... And even fans of Eli and fans of the Goretorium have come to notice me! It is truly a great feeling!
CC: You flew to Vegas for the day of the grand opening for the Goretorium and then flew back home after. What were those 24 or so hours like for you?
MC: I actually flew in the day before the grand opening, hearing that it possibly opened to the public at midnight. So I showed up there at 3pm or so on September 26th. I was notified by a worker that just so happened to be present, that the Goretorium didn't open until the 27th at 11pm. But all in all, my time in Las Vegas was phenomenal. I could never have pictured a better vacation! Even though it was a very long wait, because I decided to show up so early, it was completely worth it! I mean, I got to meet the horror master of my dreams!!
Roth givin' a little lovin' |
CC: How long in advance did you get your ticket?
MC: Well, as you know, I was planning on attending the opening for MONTHS, but I didn't actually get my ticket until a couple days before the opening... Because it was only a couple days before that I actually realized that I was able to make it to Las Vegas! It seemed almost completely impossible to make it there for me, but I had some help from a very amazing family member who guaranteed my trip!
CC: What was the Goretorium like? What was the experience like? You basically walked through Eli Roth's mind.
MC: The Goretorium was like all my nightmares coming to life. It was amazing! When I have a nightmare, I actually ENJOY them, so I knew automatically before I got there that this would be the best experience for me, and it was! The experience was amazing. The Goretorium workers were all so great and I felt like royalty while I was there. And just knowing that I got to walk through the mind of Eli Roth made the experience 500 times better... It made me realize how much alike we are in a very twisted way! I don't really want to give much away on the experience, because I want you all to experience it for yourselves! And just so you know, you're all f#@cked.
CC: Correct me if I'm wrong, but you go a tattoo before going to the Goretorium and then after. Can you tell us a little bit about these tattoos?
Roth poses with the tattooed foot he signed |
MC: Yes, I got a tattoo on the top of my foot before the Goretorium... For the Goretorium! My foot looks like the skin has been peeled back and you can see the bones, tendons, veins and such in my foot. I then made it my goal to get Eli Roth to sign and date it for me! It was quite funny, because when I first saw him, he was about 20 feet away from me and behind the glass inside the Goretorium. Just seeing him made me have some sort of panic attack. I instantly started crying my eyes out and sobbing! I went absolutely crazy!
There were some Goretorium workers talking to me while this was happening, and I believe that I may have scared them off a bit! Ha ha, accomplishment!!! But I have NEVER ever cried over any other person before in my life... The workers then went inside and must have said something to Eli, because he came out about 15 minutes later. He came out and he signed and dated my tattoo. I was nervously laughing and crying at the same time when he came out! But anyways, when I got home from las Vegas, I went back to my tattoo artist and he tattooed it over...So I will ALWAYS be reminded of the most amazing day of my life!
CC: When do you plan on going back?
MC: Well, while I was there, I actually got hired at the Goretorium! Ginger said he loved my enthusiasm and I can start anytime I can make it back there! So will definitely be back there a lot sooner that I thought I would be!! Hopefully sometime in the VERY near future!
