Out tomorrow! Barricade

WWE Studio's is dropping a new DVD tomorrow called Barricade. Now normally we would just mention something like this on the podcast when we go over the new releases for the week on DVD. However, Barricade has some really cool features to it. The first is that it is using Augmented Reality technology. What's that you say? It's this amazing and cool tech that recognizes images, symbols and object in the real world and then delivers video, animations and audio content in real time. Check out how this can work. You download a free app to your phone, use the app to look at the DVD cover of Barricade and it unlocks a whole bunch of behind the scenes content. Pretty cool right? It's called the Frosted Window Augmented Reality game and the app is called Aurasma. So go out and get Barricade and experience this really cool technology. The DVD is loaded with other extra features. I find that smaller horror films like this one tend to have some of the best behind the scenes features.

So what is Barricade about you ask? As a busy psychiatrist, Terrance Shade (played by seasoned actor Eric McCormack, who also played Will, from “Will & Grace”) is struggling to adjust to life as a widowed father whose main concern is the safety and well-being of his young children. The children, as well, must come to grips with having lost their principal caretaker, a fun-loving and devoted mother and, at the same time, get closer to a father they’ve never truly bonded with. A holiday in the mountains is an opportunity for the Shade family to accept their tragic loss and start anew. Little do they know they’ll all be tested in unimaginable ways. Apart from their fun-filled first night at the cabin and a snowball fight the following morning, the family experiences events that would frighten the most fearless. The harrowing ordeal they are faced with, and ultimately survive, forces Terrance to overcome his fears and truly understand what it means to be a parent.
