Scott Weinberg: The Essential Horror Movie Calendar 2012

"I better be on that calendar."

Here at Dark of the Matinee we like to watch horror movies year round which should come as no surprise. That’s kind of our thing. But, like I’m sure most of you do, when October rolls around we like to put a little extra emphasis into our horror movie viewing.

If the Twitterverse and blogosphere are any indication, lots of people out there like to attempt to try and watch at least one horror movie a night in the month of October. Some even like to do double features on a nightly basis with a marathon set for Halloween night.

We fully support this.

Choosing which films to watch can be quite the task. With so many good horror flicks out there, where does one begin? Luckily for us, Scott Weinberg, one of my favorite film critics, has released The Essential Horror Movie Calendar of 2012!

The calendar features at least a double feature for everyday of the month with weekends and the last week or so of the month consisting of at least three films to watch. It’s a great calendar full of lots of goodies, some of which you’ll see in our countdown throughout the month.

Head on over to Movies.com and take a look at his calendar and find some movies to watch this Halloween season. Do you agree with what he chose? Would you add or remove anything?

Side note: Someone, posting as “Anonymous” let the following comment in response to Mr. Weinberg’s calendar – “How can you respect yourself after recommending ‘Halloween 3: Season of the Witch’ to anyone!?!?”

You’ll all find out very shortly that this comment does not sit well with me.

Be sure to follow Weinberg on Twitter @ScottEWeinberg and read all his posts on FEARnet and Movies.com
