The Fifth: Short Film From Ryan A. Levin

A while back I came across a short film called The Fifth. The film is about a group of four friends that get together on a weekly basis for drinks and some hands of poker. For various reasons they’ve been unable to get a solid fifth guy they need to get in some quality games of poker.

The Fifth was written and directed by Ryan A. Levin, who recently wrote the script for the fantastic Kevin Corrigan horror/comedy, Some Guy Who Kills People. Levin has a way with dark comedy which he showcases nicely in The Fifth. If you haven’t already seen Some Guy Who Kills People, then this short is a great introduction into Levin’s dark comedic styling.

For all you fans of Scrubs out there, you’ll be pleased to see that Sam Lloyd (Ted on Scrubs) plays the lead here, doing a fantastic job. The film co-stars Simon Anthony, Robert E. Beckwith, Rob G. Kahn, George Miserlis, and Nicole Surels.

The Fifth is a fun, dark short film that I highly recommend. Check it out (it’s posted below) and then after go pick up Some Guy Who Kills People and enjoy Ryan A. Levin’s work in a longer form. You won’t be disappointed.
