Currently streaming under the free section of Mill Creek's Iron Fist TV is 1978's BLACK FIST. BLACK FIST stars Richard Lawson as Leroy Fisk, a Los Angeles street fighter who goes to work for some gangsters to make a little money.
This is a fairly obscure blaxploitation movie, or at least one that doesn't get much love and that's a shame. The movie is quite entertaining and features a pretty solid soundtrack. Like most blaxploitation flicks the production values are a bit light but the film is able to overcome that.
BLACK FIST doesn't have a ton of gore if that's what you're looking for, but it is pretty violent and some of it is actually fairly realistic. Lawson is the star of the show giving a performance that I'm sure Samuel L. Jackson has channeled on more than one occasion.
