Overlooked Horror Films - Day 19 - Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)

Every day in October we will be highlighting one of our favorite overlooked horror films as a way to countdown to glorious Halloween. We are hoping to bring some attention to films that rarely get on horror lists during this time of year. We hope you enjoy!

Bubba Ho-Tep (2002)

What’s it about: Elvis and JFK, who are both alive and well living in a nursing home, do battle with an ancient Egyptian Mummy who is stealing the souls of their fellow nursing home residents.

Why is it overlooked: Interestingly enough, everyone that has seen Bubba Ho-Tep seems to love it, it just doesn't get talked about enough. In large I feel that has to do with the super bizarre concept. I mean JFK is black.

Why is it worth a look: Bubba Ho-Tep is simply a ton of fun. Don Coscarelli really knows how to deliver the perfect mix of horror and comedy. Bruce Campbell is perfect as an elder Elvis. Not only is Campbell very funny but he genuinely seems like he could make for a good Elvis. This is the perfect party movie to watch with a group of friends.
