First up is the horror collection. This set includes the original 1979 version of WHEN A STRANGER CALLS, the 80's slasher HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME, Stuart Orme's THE PUPPET MASTERS starring Donald Sutherland and rounding out the set is Stephen Sommers' cult classic DEEP RISING. Obviously this is the set we are highly anticipating.
Next up is an action set. This one doesn't get me as giddy as the horror set, but still pretty stoked. This set features VERTICAL LIMIT which 14-year-old Chris saw on opening night and loved, STEALTH which 19-year-old Chris passed on, TERMINAL VELOCTIY starring the highly lovable and totally not crazy Charlie Sheen and finally Ridley Scott's high-sea adventure WHITE SQUALL. Psst, that last one stars the Dude.
Maybe you want to sit down and watch a bluray with the family? Mill Creek has you covered there as well with this family collection. Here we get ERNEST GOES TO CAMP, possibly the best Ernest movie there is, a movie I loved as a kid in CAMP NOWHERE with Christopher Lloyd and Andrew Keegan, Patrick Swayze dading it up in FATHER HOOD and last but not least Michael J. Fox in LIFE WITH MIKEY.
Alright, so you had some fun with the kids but now it's back to the action! Boom! Just pop in this action set featuring COLOR OF NIGHT starring a color blind Bruce Willis, David Duchovny and Timmothy Hutton squaring off in PLAYING GOD, Antoine Fuqua's debut THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS, and lastly an awesome and overlooked Keifer Sutherland flick TRUTH OR CONSEQUENCES NM.
So maybe you want a little less action but still want to be on the edge or your seat? Get the suspense collection! Here you get Michael Keaton as ONE GOOD COP, Melanie Griffith trying to find a STRANGER AMONG US, Meg Ryan & Dennis Quaid get dreamt in D.O.A., and Kevin Kline and Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio are CONSENTING ADULTS.
This final set releasing on February 17 might be the most interesting mix. It features two dramedies in THE SQUID AND THE WHALE & RUNNING WITH SCISSORS, a sort of horror movie in THE MESSENGERS and a dramatic thriller in FREEDOM LAND. If you can't decide what to watch or just want a little of everything, this may be the set for you.
