FDR: American Badass

Typically, I like to tell you about a movie and then let you watch the trailer. With this movie, I think it's best you just watch the trailer first.

Now just in case you don't quite understand what you just witnessed, let me run it down for you.

What we have here is Franklin Delano Roosevelt getting polio after being attacked and bitten by a German werewolf. FDR, as we all very well know will not stand idly by and let this happen, oh no! He's hopping into his "wheelchair of death," grabbing Douglas MacArthur, and attacking these German son-of-bitches! And this, of course, is all done in a way that references the 1966 Batman movie. Oh, and Albert Einstein is a jackass.

This, my friends, is FDR: American Badass from writer Ross Patterson and director Garrett Brawith. The always fantastic Barry Bostwick stars as FDR alongside Lin Shaye as First Lady, Eleanor. Ray Wise is MacArthur and at some point Kevin Sorbo stops by as Abraham Lincoln, which totally makes sense.

The only thing I can really say is that this film looks absolutely awesome and immediately reminded me of Don Coscarelli's brilliant Bubba Ho-Tep. If FDR: American Badass is half as good as that film, we're in for a treat. My only question is, how did this not get made sooner?

Those of you in Arizona will be able to find out firsthand as it makes it's Arizona debut at the International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival. The film will only have two screenings, so I suggest getting your tickets for this one quick, before they're all gone. Showtimes are listed below:

Wed, April 04, 2012 - 9:20 PM, Theatre 6
