Phoenix Comicon Is Back! May 24-27 Phoenix Convention Center

On Memorial Day weekend, the Phoenix Comicon will turn ten! From the humble beginnings as a one day, six hour event with just over 400 people in attendance, to the four day event from last year serving 23,000 attendees, the Phoenix Comicon has spent the past decade quickly growing to not only the biggest and best comic book convention in the Phoenix area, but one of the best in the Southwest region.

Like most comic conventions, the Phoenix Comicon began with a focus on comic books and science-fiction/fantasy works, but it has broadened it's horizons to keep up with the ever growing hordes of people that attend each year. In addition to the comics, you can now find many pop culture elements and this year there will even be a film fest!

Over the year's the guest list has been mighty impressive with nerd gods such as Stan Lee, Wil Wheaton, Leonard Nimoy, and Max Brooks. For 2012 the list gets even more impressive.

As part of the 25th anniversary celebration for Star Trek: The Next Generation a bunch of that crew will be in attendance including the legendary Patrick Stewart and the man who got us all into reading, Levar Burton. Joing the enterprise will be the original captain William Shatner and the original Hulk Lou Ferringo along with the talented voice actor Phil LaMarr. And this is only a small portion of what the Phoenix Comicon has planned for this year!

Be sure to check back here at Dark of the Matinee often for more updates and information on the 2012 Phoenix Comicon. For ticket information please visit the official Phoenix Comicon website.
