Andrew Bird: Fever Year
One of the films I am most excited for at this year's Phoenix Film Festival is the documentary Andrew Bird: Fever Year. The film follows the musician's rigorous touring year that began to take a toll on his health. He ended the tour with a long lasting fever and on crutches.
I am a fan of Andrew Bird's music but I would want to see this film even if I wasn't aware of his music. Documentaries about musicians are often great. Think of how good music docs like Scratch, Dig!, Fearless Freaks, and the Devil and Daniel Johnston are. These films are about artists struggling with their own voices. The music, or rather, if you like the music or not is secondary.
The film plays at the Phoenix Film Festival on March 30th at 4:35pm and March 31st at 7:25pm.
