Phoenix Film Festival Survival Kit

As we get excited for this weekend's Phoenix Film Festival, I thought I would share 5 things I am bringing with me in order to survive the craziness and hours in a dark theater.

5) A notepad - We will be seeing roughly five films each day and a notepad is the perfect way to jot down a few notes about each film in between screenings. Seeing so many films in one day can make it tough to remember what you felt about each one so taking some notes is a good idea. This comes in especially handy with the short film series.

4) A flask - The days are long and a nice shot of whisky warms the soul.

3) Snacks - All there is to eat at theaters is candy and popcorn. That's not exactly food to live off of for three days. Fruit, nuts, and water are key to keeping the popcorn tummy away. A cooler in the car is the best way to go on this.

2) Eye drops - Seems silly? Well staring at a screen for 10+ hours can make your eyes tired and dry. Eye drops are the secret weapon.

1) A buddy- I am thrilled to be going to most of the films with Dark of the Matinee co-creator Chris Coffel. Having a pal along makes the whole thing sweeter. Even better is having two buddies along. Occasional guest Brett Walker will be with us as well. Fun times are sure to be had.
