To Stream or Not To Stream: Jack's Back
This 80's slasher of sorts imagines a modern day killer recreating the kills of Jack the Ripper. While this is an interesting idea and James Spader is always good, the film never hits its stride and remains kind of a dud. Spader plays twin brothers, one a doctor and one more of a drifter. When the doctor is murdered, his drifter brother goes on the hunt for the killer. Jack's Back should be a fun romp but instead tries to hard to develop the anguish of Spader's character. The film does have a few solid kill scenes but overall never creates any sustained suspense. This is largely due to the poor direction by Rowdy Harrington, who scored big with Road House right after this film.
Verdict: Don't bother streaming
Availability: Hulu and Netflix
