PHOENIX FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES ITS COMPETITION FILMS TO APPEAR IN 2014 FILM LINEUP!


The 2014 Phoenix Film Festival has announced its films scheduled to be included in this Festival’s film lineup. The lineup features some of the brightest new talent the industry has to offer. See some highlighted titles below, and the fill list at www.phoenixfilmfestival.com.

  • 45RPM- directed by Juli Jackson, an artist struggling with the source of her inspiration finds help from an obsessive record collector in the search for her deceased father’s lost music.
  • JAKE SQUARED- starring Elias Koteas, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Virginia Madsen, Jane Seymour, and Mike Vogel, a mind-bending comedy about a guy whose problems compound exponentially when younger versions of himself invade his life and try to solve his romantic problems.
  • KING OF HERRINGS- directed by Eddie Jemison (OCEANS 11), a Tom Waits tips-his-hat-to Woody Allen world, a group of small time wannabes, banters about the rickety streets of New Orleans to find themselves in a strange tug-o-war.
  • LIFE INSIDE OUT- directed by Jill D’Agnenica, when a mother returns to her musical roots, she rediscovers the passion of her youth, and finds a way to connect with her troubled teenage son.
  • LITTLE HOPE WAS ARSON- an edge-of-your-seat mystery set in the buckle of the Bible Belt, ten churches were burned to the ground in five weeks, igniting the largest criminal investigation in East Texas history.
  • MISFIRE: THE RISE AND FALL OF THE SHOOTING GALLERY- a documentary about the independent film company responsible for art-house hits YOU CAN COUNT ON ME and LAWS OF GRAVITY; a company that rose to the top of the independent film scene in the 90s before financial risk-taking and mismanagement caused it to crash.
  • TEDDY BEARS- starring Gillian Jacobs, David Krumholtz, Melanie Lynskey, Jason Ritter, French Stewart, and Ned Beatty, a dark comedy about three couples who head to the desert to help their friend heal from the loss of his mother.
  • THE FRONTIER- starring Max Gail and Coleman Kelly, a retired professor and his ranch hand son try to reconnect after years of estrangement.
  • THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT- directed by Henry Barrial, an ambitious young Latino man who, fueled by misguided nostalgia, buys a small apartment building in the Bronx and moves his boisterous family into the apartments to live rent-free.
  • THE JOE SHOW- a shocking and wildly entertaining documentary about America’s most controversial Sheriff, Joe Arpaio, and his ringmaster’s approach to media, politics, and law enforcement.

The 14th Annual Phoenix Film Festival occurs this year from Thursday, April 3rd to Thursday, April 10th. Continually breaking attendance records since its inception, last year’s festival saw over 23,000 attendees and there are hopes to pull in even more film enthusiasts this year. The week-long Festival will be held once again at Harkins Scottsdale 101 Theaters located at 7000 E. Mayo Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85054.
