It should come as no great surprise that Halloween is not only our favorite holiday here at Dark of the Matinee, but it’s also our favorite time of the year. We enjoy the cool, crisp fall air. We like to see the leaves change colors as they produce some beautiful foliage. Granted, we don’t get to see this foliage live and in person here in Arizona, but we see pictures and we enjoy it.

Matt, Brett and I like to sit out on the front porch cutting up a pumpkin and turning it into a jack-o-lantern with either a funny or scary face. As a heads up, if you’re ever carving pumpkins with Brett and he’s had more than two Devil’s Handshakes, do not, and I can’t stress this enough, DO NOT let him get his hands on the carving knife! Halloween ’08 is one that I’d just as soon forget.

And then of course there’s the horror films. Oh, the horror films that we love so! This is the time of year that horror movie packs can be found a plenty. Every store has them. Just last week I picked up a Lionsgate pack with 6 films including Blood Diner for a mere $5!

This Halloween we’ve got a bunch of tricks and treats in store for all you ghouls and goblins out there! Get on your costumes and grab your buckets and pillow cases because Dark of the Matinee is the place to be this October!

Everyday throughout October we’ll be counting down our favorite horror films starting at 31 and working our way down to number one to be released on Halloween day! We’ll have guest writers sharing their favorite horror films and Halloween stories and a whole lot more!

So this October don’t be a [blood] sucker, come by Dark of the Matinee daily. We’ll bob for apples, share spooky tales and just have an all out horrific time this Halloween!
