Overlooked Horror Films - Day 11 - Society (1992)

Every day in October we will be highlighting one of our favorite overlooked horror films as a way to countdown to glorious Halloween. We are hoping to bring some attention to films that rarely get on horror lists during this time of year. We hope you enjoy!

Society (1992)

What’s it about: Bill seems to be the rich kid who has it all but he just doesn't feel like he fits in. When he hears his family engaged in what sounds like an orgy, he finds out exactly why he doesn't feel the same as everyone around him.

Why is it overlooked: It's hard to say why more people don't know about this one. The film was delayed for years and did better in Europe than here in the States. I think the film is just obscure, featuring no stars and is known more for its amazing makeup than anything else.

Why is it worth a look: This is a body horror classic. The makeup effects are stunning and grotesque. It's impossible to forget the film's insane famous scene. The film also manages to work in some social commentary while still being a lot of fun to watch.
