Overlooked Horror Films - Day 31 - Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982) (Chris' Pick)

Every day in October we will be highlighting one of our favorite overlooked horror films as a way to countdown to glorious Halloween. We are hoping to bring some attention to films that rarely get on horror lists during this time of year. We hope you enjoy!

Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982)

What’s it about: A large Halloween mask-making company has plans to kill millions of American children with something sinister hidden in Halloween masks.

Why is it overlooked: Becuase it doesn't have Michael Myers. It's as simple as that. People were outraged when they found out Myers wasn't in the film. They didn't pay attention to anything else in the film. They just hated it because it was lacking Michael.

Why is it worth a look: Season of the Witch is a fantastic movie. The story is super dark. Killing all the world's children? That's pretty effed up. The film also features one of John Carpenter's best scores of all time, it's brilliant. Then there's Tom Atkins. How can you not love Tom Atkins? It's a shame Carpenter never got to do his yearly Halloween anthology but at least we have this masterpiece and it's the perfect film to watch on Halloween night!
