Overlooked Horror Films - Day 7 - Livide (2011)

Every day in October we will be highlighting one of our favorite overlooked horror films as a way to countdown to glorious Halloween. We are hoping to bring some attention to films that rarely get on horror lists during this time of year. We hope you enjoy!

Livide (2011)

What’s it about: A young caretaker tells her boyfriend about a possible hidden treasure in this old lady's house. They decide to go look for it one night and get more than they bargained for. Setup as a tradition haunted house film, Livide is the follow-up from the guys who directed Inside.
Why is it overlooked: I can't figure it out. Inside is one of the best modern horror films and just about the best home invasion film ever so why weren't more people aware of their follow up. Livide is a bit more experimental at times and far less gory so maybe that hurt the attention it got.
Why is it worth a look: When things start to go crazy, the victims get sucked into dream-like states when they are going to be killed. Think of a very cool, modern take on some of the Nightmare on Elm Street stuff. Weirdly beautiful imagery and a wonderful soundtrack help create some truly unforgettable nightmares. The film's ending is awful but so much good stuff preceeds it.
