Overlooked Horror Films - Day 6 - Slumber Party Massacre (1982)

Every day in October we will be highlighting one of our favorite overlooked horror films as a way to countdown to glorious Halloween. We are hoping to bring some attention to films that rarely get on horror lists during this time of year. We hope you enjoy!

Slumber Party Massacre (1982)

What’s it about: While her parents are out of town a high school girl decides to throw a slumber party for some of her friends on the high school's basketball team. At the same time a murderer is at large and decides to crash the party.

Why is it overlooked: My only guess is that this film maybe gets slightly confused with Abel Ferrara's Driller Killer? Other than that I have no clue as to why this isn't more loved.

Why is it worth a look: Slumber Party Massacre is an 80's slasher that stands out in a crowd full of 80's slashers. While the villain himself isn't the most memorable, his weapon of choice is. The movie is a nice blend of horror and comedy all set to a wonderful Casio soundtrack. Plus this was written and directed by a pair of women, quite rare for slashers.
