Gravestone Entertainment Part #3: Natasha Timpani

For the past two days I've been running a story on Gravestone Entertainment, the Portland based film production company. Wednesday we had an interview with Jason Hawkins which can be found here and yesterday we interviewed Dara Davey which is available here. A review of the newest Gravestone film, The Innocent, can be heard on episode #48 of the DotM podcast.

Today I wrap up our three part story by exchanging words with actress Natasha Timpani.

Christopher Coffel: How long have you been acting? What was your first role?

Natahsa Timpani: My friends and family would say since birth, because I am always performing and animated, professionally I started acting in May 09. A friend booked me as an extra for Extraordinary Measures, where I spent two days on the set. I decided at the end of day two to pursue acting, found a few auditions and my first audition ended up booking a lead role. I played a woman named Veronica Stark in the indie feature film "Crowbar".

CC: Who inspired you to become an actress?

NT: That is such a tough question because so many amazing actors and actresses inspired and continue to inspire me. When I was little I would re-enact the Wizard of Oz and Gone with the Wind, trying to act just like Judy Garland and Vivienne Leigh, so they hold a special place in my heart.

CC: What was it like working with Jason on "15?"

NT: Working with Jason is incredible. He supports and encourages his actors, and helps push them to deliver the best performance they can. He is professional, talented, knows what he is doing and is also fun to work with. I was really fortunate to be able to work not only as an actor in 15, but also as one of the co-producers, and I actually filmed a couple of scenes as well. Jason was the guy who gave me the opportunity, worked with me to learn new areas of film-making, and mostly had faith in my ability from the start. As an actor I really couldn't have asked for anything more.

CC: Do you prefer to do films that fall more into the horror genre, or would you be open for something like a rom-com if the opportunity came along?
NT: I love the horror genre and have loved working on the films I have, but the I have chosen to work on projects because the message is one I believe in or the character is one on my list of "to play" roles. Someday I would love to be given the chance to play the characters on my wish list which would include working on a drama, action, musical, romantic comedy, and a thriller.

CC: Can you tell us about some of the upcoming projects you have coming up?
NT: In the next few months I get to work with Jason Hawkins again on the film "The Suffering", and we also have a series, "Shatterpoint", to begin production in the fall. We are discussing filming two other features this summer before the series, one being a huge secret, but one that I have been waiting to make.

CC: And lastly, do blondes have more fun?
NT: Well I am having a ton of fun right now but I remember brunette being pretty great as well. It is kinda fun getting away with playing ditzy, or dumb when I am not, couldn't pull that off as a brunette.
